Discover the art and science of composting in this 2-hour workshop at Higher Grounds. This hands-on session will teach you how to transform food and garden waste into nutrient-rich compost while exploring sustainable practices we utilise in our gardens.
What's included:
- Guided tour: Learn about our sustainable farming techniques we utilise on the farm, understand the environmental benefits of composting by reducing waste and how composting supports the farm
- Discover diverse methods: Deep litter chicken composting, in-vessel, vermicomposting and in-situ composting
- Home composting: learn practical tips for starting your own composting system
- Hands-on activity: build a composting pile together using organic materials from our garden as well as contributions from restaurants and carpentry workshops. Experience the process firsthand and learn how to build a healthy and balanced pile without any odours.
Bring your own hat, water bottle and gloves if desired.
